Public Sector Operations/Lead Trainer

Al is Offset’s Founder. He is a PhD Candidate in Organizational Conflict Analysis and Resolution, with a focus in Training, and holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago in Critical Incident Response and Threat Analysis. He is a 20-year veteran of the United State Marine Corps Reserves, during which he spent over 15 years in the infantry, and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. Al is the creator of the Gap-Free Narrative™ system and Adaptive Leader™ concept. He has hundreds of hours of proven leadership exposure and brings this drive and concept to all he does. Al is currently a full-time police training manager and Intelligence Detective in a Chicago-bordering police agency. He has been a police trainer in multiple disciplines for over 15 years and has been able to vet hundreds of training curriculums.

Marina

Private Sector Operations

Marina is Offset’s Co-Founder. She has over 15 years experience in global supply chain systems with a focus on establishing guidelines and procedures for optimal operational flows. She leads a team of 6 problem-solving project managers providing vision and developing international logistical strategies for small, mid-size and large scale corporations. Marina is a subject matter expert in cost and time-saving initiatives to drive revenue and enhance customer experiences.

John

USERRA and Military Law Expert

John is the founder and lead attorney at Maher Legal Services, and of www.lawyersdefendingwarriors.com. He brings his over 20-years of experience as a JAG lawyer to the table for your benefit, and that of your agency’s. He is one of the few lawyers in our country’s history that secured not one, but TWO Presidential Pardons for his clients that were wrongfully imprisoned for actions overseas.

John is a spectacularly accomplished attorney and brings the following executive summary to the table:

J.D. magna cum laude, LLM, MBA, BS cum laude, and Master of Strategic Studies with 25 years of government contracting, litigation, and fiscal law experience as Senior Executive Service (SES) by Presidential appointment General Counsel for the US Office of Personnel Management in Washington DC, first-chair legal counsel with the US Department of Justice Commercial Litigation Branch in Washington DC, Deputy General Counsel for Acquisition with the Defense Intelligence Agency, the US Army as deployed Chief of Contracts and Fiscal Law for US Forces – Afghanistan, with private practice experience as a litigation associate at Mayer Brown and partner at Duane Morris, LLP in Chicago, published legal decisions and published government contract articles; top-secret security clearance; after mid-career MBA, founded law firm, funeral home, and international consulting company.

Nino is a Patrol Division Deputy Superintendent with 20 years of police experience. As a Deputy, he has enacted several changes and procedures that were so progressive in nature that other departments in his area followed suit and implemented the same programs. Nino believes in empowering subordinates. He will show you how to do just that through adaptive approaches and innovative thinking.

Victor

Victor is a full-time sworn police detective sergeant with over 13 years of experience. He has been an investigator for over 10 years, including 2 years of experience as a patrol and detective supervisor. Victor currently holds certifications in Lead Homicide, Sexual Assualt, Gang Investigations, and John Reid Interviews and Interrogations (Basic and Advanced). He is also certified in Instructor Development and is a certified instructor by North East Multi-Regional Training (NEMRT). Victor is a department trainer at his police department in the discipline of investigative report writing, among other topics. He has earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master's Degree from Kaplan University in Criminal Justice.

Marcos

Marcos is a retired U.S. Marine Infantryman who has spent time serving on worldwide deployments, to Far East Asia, Africa, Europe and The Middle East. During his time in the Marines, Marcos was deployed on countless highly sensitive and specialized missions in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, and Liberia, and Africa.

After separating from the Marine Corps in 2012, the Retired Master Sergeant began working as an independent contractor for the US Department of State instructing LE and Foreign Dignitaries techniques in Direct-Action Operations, Dignitary Protection and Surveillance. Marcos eventually returned to Chicago where he took a role in Homeland Security and Emergency Management where he became the Deputy Director of Training & Special Projects while simultaneously teaching protection, threat vulnerability and executive protection in El Salvador, Mexico and Costa Rica to law enforcement professionals.

In April 2018, Marcos transitioned from government and public sector work to become the Corporate Security Manager for Walgreen Co in Deerfield, IL where he oversaw the security of a 15-building campus that employs nearly 6K Team Members. In addition to supervision of campus security, Marcos managed the Global Protection Team ensuing the safety of the Executive Staff for Walgreens. Marcos currently serves as the National Director of Operations for a Private Security Firm in Chicago that employs nearly 2K LE Professionals in 27 states and has most recently deployed in support of Humanitarian Operations to Puerto Rico and Ukraine.

Marcos has a B.S. in Law Enforcement Administration from Robert Morris University and an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois. He is a graduate of SSERT’s SWAT, FBI SWAT School, Urban Sniper School, Hostage Rescue and University of Texas Engineering Extension’s Tactical Evasive Driving School. He is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Primary Instructor for Offset’s Blue Line Grappling™ program, and an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.

Matt

Matt has been a police officer for over a decade and is a Field Training Officer, Range Instructor, Reality-Based Scenarios Instructor and trainer at his department.

Matt has a BA in Criminology from Florida State University.

Matt has served as a SWAT team member for 8 years within his department and has worked in a larger regional SWAT team for 6 years as a Marksman.
